Graveyard Keeper 2 Zombie Mine Guide
Before assigning anyone, clear at least one blockage between the mine and your house — player reports say the zombie-mining technology does not appear on the tree until that route is open. Then place the reported station pair (a miner and a porter) and make sure the zombie has a walkable path to the delivery point. The checks below separate the remaining access, tool, and output problems.
The hidden gate: clear the path first
- Clear at least one blockage on the mine–house route. One player cleared the blockage next to the Supply Storage (enter the writing basement; it is the block on the right); another points to the path north of the mine. Two players independently report the technology appearing only after a route is open.
- Expect no tech node before that. One reporter describes checking the mine interaction, the pickaxe, and the technology menu and finding nothing — because the mining technology appears only after the path is cleared. An empty tree is not proof the feature is missing from your game.
- Place a miner and a porter. One answer says zombie mining needs both a miner station and a porter station, not just the mine interaction itself.
- Give the zombie a delivery path. Another reply explains the idle behavior directly: zombies need a walkable path to the factory or storage point in order to deliver goods. A cleared mine with no route to base still produces nothing.
Before assigning a zombie
- Confirm the mine area is accessible and the route to base is clear. The reported hidden gate is the mine–house path; the mining technology appears on the tree only after a blockage is cleared.
- Interact with the mine yourself. Record what the current UI says is missing: technology, repair materials, tool, mastery, or another requirement.
- Prepare nearby storage or the output endpoint shown by the game. Do not assume any chest in the area participates automatically.
- Use one test worker. A single assignment makes it easier to distinguish a setup failure from a limit or logistics problem.
Assignment checklist
Worker
Assign the zombie through the mine’s current interaction. Merely carrying or dropping a zombie nearby does not prove it has the job.
Stations
One player answer reports that zombie mining uses a miner station plus a porter station. Check both exist before debugging the worker.
Tool
Player routes associate mining with a pickaxe. Use the tier requested by the live UI rather than importing a value from the first game or demo.
Output
Clear the destination and watch one work cycle. A full, disconnected, or path-blocked output can look like an idle-worker bug.
If the zombie mine is not working
- No assignment option: clear the mine–house route first — reports say the technology appears only after a blockage is cleared — then re-check construction state and quest progression.
- No mining technology on the tree: treat it as the reported path gate, not a missing feature, until the route is open and the tree is rechecked.
- Zombie accepts the job but stays idle: recheck mastery, tool durability or tier, and whether a walkable delivery path exists to the factory or storage point.
- Work animation occurs but nothing arrives: inspect output storage, the porter side of the station pair, and any separate hauling step.
- Production stops later: clear output, confirm the tool is still usable, and check whether the worker was reassigned.
Confirmed observation vs inference
You can confirm in your save whether the mine has an assignment interaction, whether a zombie is shown in the slot, whether work animation occurs, and whether output increases. Those are direct observations.
Do not infer without another test that silence means no work, that a nearby chest is connected, that every pickaxe tier is valid, or that a stalled loop proves a global bug. Change one condition and watch one cycle.
Connect the mine to the rest of the route
For manual ore access, start with where to find iron. If the mined material is for a town delivery, use the Orders, Jack, and warehouse guide. For general worker setup and the zombie-limit boundary, return to the zombie hub.
