Old World — New Story

Lazy Bear Games’ September 2 development log expands the confirmed picture of Graveyard Keeper 2. It names more explorable locations, places the sequel eight years after the original game, confirms a new talent system beside the Technology Tree, and replaces the Teleportstone with Milestones for fast travel.

What the devlog confirms

  • The explorable area includes The Town’s southern outskirts, another village and tavern, another forest and swamp, another church, and another graveyard.
  • The sequel’s story takes place eight years after the original game, with the world having continued without its Keeper.
  • Most characters are new, while several characters from the original return. The talking skull companion shown for the sequel is explicitly not Gerry.
  • The Technology Tree remains and a new talent system is being added.
  • The Teleportstone does not return. Milestones provide fast travel between locations after those locations are unlocked.
  • Important quest characters will usually stay at regular locations, although some mechanics tied to them remain available only on designated days.

What this announcement does not establish

The development log does not give map dimensions, quest counts, story length, talent effects, Milestone locations or costs, exact schedules, or balance values. It also does not change the announced September 22 release date or publish a universal unlock time.

Still unknown: Exact implementation details, progression requirements, travel restrictions, and how these systems differ by platform.
