Demo status
Is there a Graveyard Keeper 2 demo?
Yes. The official Graveyard Keeper 2 demo is available now on Steam, Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch 2. The launch announcement says the save file will carry over; tinyBuild’s official Steam support article says demo saves should transfer automatically.
Demo availability was reviewed September 18, 2026, and the official Steam transfer guidance was refreshed September 23, 2026; community playtime and boundary reports retain their separate September 22 review date.
How long is the Graveyard Keeper 2 demo?
There is no fixed official playtime. In a Steam Community discussion, one answer estimates around 3–4 hours depending on pace. Players in the same thread report spending roughly 10–15 hours when they postpone the main boundary, clean up their base areas, improve the graveyard, gather resources, and repeat available activities.
Where does the demo end?
The official announcement describes a first experience leading an army to protect The Town but does not define the exact stopping screen. A Steam Community discussion identifies a Town fight as the main progression boundary and says players can postpone it to continue optional work. If you want to maximize the demo, finish your preferred graveyard, church, garden, crafting, and resource tasks before advancing that fight.
Boundary note: The Town-fight description comes from player reports, not an official endpoint specification. The demo is the opening portion of the game, not a compressed showcase of every full-game system.
Does demo progress carry over?
Yes. Both the official demo announcement and the launch announcement say the save file carries over to the full game. tinyBuild’s support article says Steam transfer should be automatic; if it is not, the documented fallback is to copy the demo save files into the full game’s save directory and relaunch.
How to recover a Steam demo save manually
- Close Graveyard Keeper 2 before moving files.
- Open
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Lazy Bear Games\Graveyard Keeper 2 Demo. - Copy the demo save files — the official article names them as the
.infoand.datfiles. - Paste them into
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Lazy Bear Games\Graveyard Keeper 2. - Launch the full game and verify that the save appears.
The directory path and copy steps above follow tinyBuild’s official Steam support procedure, which names the save files as “.info and .dat”; the article does not mention other files you may see in the folder. Back up both folders before replacing files. The manual fallback article is explicitly a Steam procedure; it does not establish a host-specific manual path or automatic-transfer guarantee for Xbox, PlayStation, or Nintendo Switch 2. The official Known Issues list does mention re-importing and reloading a demo save in one console preorder-content workaround, but that is not a general console transfer guide. It also does not establish Steam-to-console transfer, cloud-sync behavior, or support for the earlier 2025 open alpha. See the official Known Issues list.
What can you play?
The official announcement says the demo visits The Town and includes crafting, scavenging, graveyard digging and decorating, plus a first experience leading an army to protect The Town. A separate official Lazy Bear Games post says you start this demo journey as the Grand Inquisitor; it does not publish abilities, statistics, or any broader full-game role details, so this guide does not infer them.
Which platforms have the demo?
The confirmed demo list is Steam, Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch 2. Nintendo Switch is not listed in the demo announcement, even though it remains an announced platform for the full game; this page does not infer an unannounced Switch demo.
Why can’t I craft Polished Bronze in the demo?
Polished Bronze is a progression-boundary question, not evidence that your save is broken. Community answers consistently report that its technology is outside the demo scope. Do not confuse it with Bronze Detail, which players report uses a Wooden Anvil supported by a nearby Hardening or Quenching Bucket. See the Polished Bronze and Bronze Detail troubleshooting guide for the exact distinction and source limits.
Demo FAQ
Is the demo timed?
No official real-time limit is published. The 3–4 hour figure is a community estimate based on progression pace.
Can I keep playing before the endpoint?
Community reports say yes: postpone the Town fight and continue available cleanup, graveyard work, resource gathering, and other open tasks.
Will I need to restart?
No. The launch announcement says demo saves carry over, and tinyBuild support says Steam transfer should be automatic. A manual file-copy fallback is available if it fails.
Does the demo show the whole game?
No. It is an opening slice with a progression boundary; it does not establish every full-game unlock, balance value, or late-game system.
Do not confuse it with the first game
An official April promotion let people play the original Graveyard Keeper for free. That was not a Graveyard Keeper 2 demo.
