Where to Use the Victory Banner in Graveyard Keeper 2

Players report using the Victory Banner at the barracks blueprint table to open another fortification slot for barriers or archer towers. It is not the squad-capacity upgrade. If the construction option is missing, check the Archer Tower I technology: one player found that skipping it for the higher tier left this option unavailable.

Where to spend the banner

  1. Go to the barracks fortification-building area. This is the area used to build barriers and archer towers, rather than the squad-upgrade interaction.
  2. Open the blueprint table. A reply in “Using victory banner” describes the banner option as second from the bottom, just above Remove. Treat that menu position as a player report, not a permanent UI layout.
  3. Look for the fortification-space expansion. In the separate “victory banner” thread, a player explicitly describes receiving a new slot for fortifications after using it. Check the requirements shown in your own construction menu before spending the item.

Option missing? Check Archer Tower I

The original poster of “Using victory banner” returned to say the missing requirement was the first archer-tower technology. They had skipped it in favor of the second tier, thinking the earlier technology was unnecessary.

Practical check: inspect whether Archer Tower I itself is learned, even if you have unlocked a later tower. This is a specific player report of a missing prerequisite, not a verified requirement for every version or every barracks upgrade.

Victory Banner versus Defender’s Emblem

Keep fortification space separate from zombie squad capacity. The cited discussions distinguish the Victory Banner’s building-space expansion from the Defender’s Emblem squad interaction. One reply calls the squad item a “Defender banner”; the original poster in the other thread describes a helmeted sheep accepting defender emblems in the northeast corner.

A reply in “Using victory banner” guesses that the Victory Banner expands squads. That tentative answer conflicts with the more explicit fortification-slot report in the separate thread; it is not the basis of this guide.

If the banner itself is missing

The September discussion also contains players reporting a banner disappearing during a post-battle or forge cutscene. That is different from having a banner but not seeing the construction option. These reports do not establish a recovery method or the number of banners your save should have.

Record the completed battle, inventory state, platform and game version before reporting the missing reward. Check current updates and known issues; a historical report does not prove that your current build still has the same bug.

What to check in your game: These are community discussions, not an independently tested recipe or official prerequisite list. No material quantities, maximum fortification count, reward schedule, or guaranteed lost-item fix is asserted.

For workers rather than combat slots, use the zombie worker guide. If the late-game battle itself will not unlock, see final-battle troubleshooting (spoilers). Browse the guide index for other blockers.
